Beneficiary

Since its inception, Kansas Connection and later, Midwest Entertainment Connection has worked to give back to the community. Key to our nonprofit mission, we choose one or more beneficiaries every year. Various programs during the year are then scheduled to raise money for or contribute time and services to a selected beneficiary. Midwest Entertainment Connection has the distinction of being the only entertainment industry networking organization that is also a nonprofit charitable organization.

CURRENT BENEFICIARY

We are happy to announce that Inner-City Filmmakers (ICF) is our beneficiary for 2010.  Actor MECONNers have already begun volunteering their skills for the Directing Workshops and we are in process to help ICF with teachers for their directing and writing workshops to take place later this year.  MECONN is currently accepting donations for our beneficiary. Click on "Donate" off of the Main Menu and find the PayPal button there to contribute!

Remember, all contributions via MECONN are tax deductible!  Thank you!!

PAST BENEFICIARIES

MECONN has had the pleasure of working with several beneficiaries in previous years. Recipients have been in both Kansas and the Los Angeles areas. One recent beneficiary is The Sycamores. Events on behalf of this organization included a Mondo Vaudeville comedy show benefit, a Toy Drive, and a Holiday Season party for the Sycamores children. We also held an all-day Young Filmmakers Clinic for the children of the Sycamores.

Our beneficiary for 2008 was A Place Called Home.  This organization to provides at-risk youth with a secure, positive family environment where they can regain hope and belief, earn trust and self-respect and learn skills to lead to a productive lifestyle free of the gangs, drugs and poverty that surround them.  They help inner city youth find their dreams through educational enrichment.

Other past beneficiaries include the Wichita Children's Theatre and Dance Center, the KAN Film Festival, Shakespeare At Play, the National Alopcia Areata Foundation, and others.
